Yes, daffodils are technically edible, but they are not recommended for consumption. All parts of the daffodil plant contain toxic alkaloids, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea if ingested. It is important to exercise caution and avoid consuming daffodils, as they can be harmful to humans and animals. If you are looking for edible flowers, it is best to choose varieties that are known to be safe for consumption. **

Purchased daffodils may not open because they were picked too early or were not properly cared for during transportation and storage. Daffodils need time to fully develop and open, and if they are picked too early, they may not have had the chance to fully mature. Additionally, if they were not stored in the right conditions, such as being exposed to extreme temperatures or not receiving enough water, they may not open properly. It's important to purchase daffodils from a reputable source and ensure they are properly cared for once you bring them home to increase the chances of them opening fully. **

Daffodils typically last for about 1-3 weeks, depending on the variety and growing conditions. With proper care, they can stay fresh and vibrant for a longer period of time. It's important to keep them in a cool location, change the water regularly, and trim the stems every few days to prolong their lifespan. **

Daffodils hang their heads due to their natural growth habit. The weight of the flower head can cause the stem to bend, making the flower face downward. This is a common characteristic of daffodils and is not necessarily a sign of poor health. Additionally, hanging their heads may help protect the delicate petals and reproductive parts of the flower from harsh weather conditions. **

The animals that are most likely eating your daffodils are deer, rabbits, and squirrels. Deer are known to eat a wide variety of plants, including daffodils, while rabbits are also notorious for munching on flower bulbs. Squirrels may also dig up and eat daffodil bulbs, especially in the fall when they are storing food for the winter. To protect your daffodils from these animals, you can try using physical barriers, repellents, or planting daffodils in areas that are less accessible to these animals. **

Daffodils can be placed in water as soon as they are cut from the plant. It is important to place them in water immediately to help them stay fresh and hydrated. Daffodils can continue to grow and open up further once placed in water, so it is best to change the water every few days to keep them looking their best. **
